About Mrs. Rooney... I always wanted to be a teacher. I began my career early by “teaching” my younger cousin and brothers, even writing up report cards for the parents to sign. Later, I further pursued my dream by attending Lander University, graduating in 1992 with a BA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I have been teaching for 19 years. Over those years I have enjoyed teaching in South Carolina public schools, operating a tutoring service, home schooling my children, and teaching in a church preschool. I made Cambridge Academy my professional home in 2009, spending the first two years teaching first grade. In 2011, I was able to realize a life-long dream of teaching kindergarten. It has exceeded my expectations by being more rewarding that I ever dreamed it could be! For me, teaching young children is a joy and a privilege. I am lucky to be able to do what I love. My diverse experience has given me the chance to interact with children and their families in a variety of ways - all that have grown and enriched me as a teacher and a person. My career path has led me to work with numerous colleagues who have shared their expertise and helped to shape me professionally along the way. I have been blessed to be able to call Greenwood home for 15 years. My family includes my husband Lance, our three Cougars (ages 13, 10, and 8), our dachshund Ruby, our two guinea pigs Bailee and Izzy, Our Chinese Silkie chickens Clementine, Aquamarine, and Periwinkle and an ever-changing number of guppies and goldfish. I love to garden, go camping , play Shanghai rummy with our friends, spend time with my church family, sing in the choir, and read in my spare time. | ![]() |
