About Mrs. Rooney

      I always wanted to be a teacher. I began my career early by “teaching” my younger cousin and brothers, even writing up report cards for the parents to sign. Later, I further pursued my dream by attending Lander University, graduating in 1992 with a BA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

     I have been teaching for 19 years. Over those years I have enjoyed teaching in South Carolina public schools, operating a tutoring service, home schooling my children, and teaching in a church preschool. I made Cambridge Academy my professional home in 2009,  spending the first two years teaching first grade. In 2011, I was able to realize a life-long dream of teaching kindergarten. It has exceeded my expectations by being more rewarding that I ever dreamed it could be!

     For me, teaching young children is a joy and a privilege. I am lucky to be able to do what I love.  My diverse experience has given me the chance to interact with children and their families in a variety of ways - all that have grown and enriched me as a teacher and a person.  My career path has led me to work with numerous colleagues who have shared their expertise and helped to shape me professionally along the way.
