At Cambridge Academy we believe field trips are an important part of educating your child. This is especially true concerning our youngest Cougars for whom the world is a brand new, sparkling place filled with learning opportunities around every bend!

Listed are the trips that we make annually, although we are always open to new adventures as the opportunities present themselves.

Lander University GLPA- Our kindergarten class makes several trips to Lander University each year to see age appropriate productions and plays. Kindergarteners average 3 trips per year. These are arranged for us by Mrs. Becky Gardener, our CA music instructor. We enjoy the productions and also learn a great deal about proper etiquette for young ladies and gentlemen during theatrical and musical performances.

A Visit to the Pumpkin Patch - Each year we visit a local pumpkin patch to help us "get into character" for our annual production of our kindergarten play, "The Littlest Pumpkin". We enjoy story time in the patch, explore the various types of pumpkins(Did you know there are blue pumpkins??), bring back our very own mini pumpkins, and choose a class pumpkin to carve, too.

The Northwest Volunteer Fire Department - Fire safety is important and who can resist being able to climb on a big red fire truck? We are lucky to be right around the corner from the neighborhood fire department and they look forward to our visit each year. Walking to our destination is half the fun, and the firefighters are always happy to have us.

Ninety Six Historic Site- As part of our study of life "long ago", Kindergarten visits the Ninety Six historic site each year. The children are always entranced by the log cabin and the big cannons. Everyone enjoys the stroll through the woods, too.

The Traveling Trunk -  A visit from the Traveling Trunk is one of the kindergarten's favorite "trips" each year, even though it happens right in our own classroom. The Traveling Trunk, provided as a service by the Ninety Six Historical Site, contains reproductions of clothing, toys, and household items that would've been used by kids that lived "in the long ago".  We have a wonderful time dressing in period reproduction clothing, trying out the games of the time period, and learning about what it would've been like to have been a child during the 1700s.

The Greenwood County Library and Pizza Hut - one of our most popular field trips, our travels to the library and to Pizza Hut are sure to bring smiles all around each year. The kids enjoy story time with "Mrs. Marf" and have a great time touring the Pizza Hut kitchen and making their very own pizza for lunch.

The Happy Cow Creamery and Berry Patch - Down on the farm we learn all kinds of things but where milk comes from and how it is prepared for our tables is the main focus of this trip. We also have a picnic lunch and go strawberry picking. A very "a'mooo'sing"  day for our kinders and chaperones alike.
